What is brand voice? And how to write yours down
The way you actually sound, written down clearly enough that an AI can copy it without turning you into everybody else.
Your voice is the set of habits that make a post sound like you wrote it. The words you reach for, how long your sentences run, the jokes you make, the things you refuse to say. Most people have one and have never written it down, which is why handing their writing to an AI goes so badly.
How to pin yours down
Take your ten best posts and read them out loud. Write down what you notice, so short sentences, no jargon, always a real story in the middle, that kind of thing. That list is your voice, and it is more useful than any adjective like friendly or professional.
Why an AI needs it spelled out
An AI defaults to the average of everything it has read, and the average sounds like a press release. Feed it your real posts and your real rules and it stops averaging and starts copying you.
Keeping it over time
Voice drifts when you write tired or when you hand it to somebody else. Read the last thing you posted and ask whether you would have said it out loud. There is more in how to use AI to write content that sounds like you.
